Our Drivers License Services

• Travel DL/ID

  Effective May 3, 2023, only the Arizona Travel ID (driver license or ID card), a U.S. passport and other federally approved identification will be accepted at TSA airport security checkpoints(link is external) for domestic travel

  EZ Title & Registration can issue your Travel ID/DL at our office with no appointment required!

  The Arizona Travel ID is the credential that complies with the federal REAL ID Act of 2005. It is available as both a driver license and identification card. There is a gold star embedded in the card to show that the card holder has provided added proof of identification to ensure the license or ID meets strict federal requirements.

  Required Documents

  • Bring One Document: Proof of Identity (Birth certificate; U.S. Passport; Passport Card)
    • If you need a certified copy of an Arizona birth certificate, the Arizona Department of Health Services with expedited processing.
  • Social Security Number (No document is needed, though you will need to provide your complete Social Security number.)
    • To order a replacement Social Security card visit the Social Security Administration website(link is external) and establish an account.
  • Bring Two Documents: Proof of Arizona Residency– two printed documents with your current Arizona residential address (Utility bills; Credit Card / Bank statements; insurance policy)
  • Note: If your current legal name is different from the one shown on a document, you must show legal proof of name change, such as a marriage certificate, divorce decree or court order.

  Those who don’t have the required residency documents must complete an Arizona Residency Affidavit(link is external) and supply additional proof of residency.

• Original Driver License
  Whether you are applying for a license for the very first time and need to take your tests, or you have a license to transfer from out of state, EZ Title & Registration can help you get it done! For original driver license in Arizona, you will need: -Original Birth Certificate or current US Passport/Passport Card** -Proof of address (for Travel DL) -Out of state license (if applicable), either current or expired less than 1 year Applicants must complete a Driver License / Identification Card Application. The form is also available in our office. **Other documents may be acceptable depending on your Authorized Presence status If your license is expired more than 1 year, or you’ve never had a license, you will need to complete: -Vision Test -Written Test -Road Test See our page on Written & Road Testing No appointment is required for our services, including written and road tests. Please contact us for more information.
• Duplicate/Update
  If you need to update or replace your Identification Card or Driver License, EZ Title & Registration can help you with that at our Tempe or Scottsdale office. No appointment is required. Some reasons you may need an update/duplicate license: -Lost or stolen -Address change -Name change -Photo update required -Over 21 license -Class G to class D license A new photo will always be required when you come into the office (but don’t worry, we will let you see it after). • Identification Card
  The identification card is available to all ages (including infants). Persons 65 or older can obtain the card free of charge. In addition, those receiving Federal Supplemental Security Income disability checks may qualify for a free card based on eligibility. (convenience fee still applies) EZ Title & Registration will take a photo and issue a temporary ID over the counter. All hard copy ID’s are centrally issued and mailed (usually within 7-10 days) -Applicants must complete a Driver License / Identification Card Application. -Applicants must provide acceptable proof of identification.

  Identification Cards for Children

  ADOT recommends that all children have an Arizona ID Card.

  • An Arizona ID card with a photo enables law enforcement agencies to distribute your child’s information and photograph in the event of an AMBER Alert (child abduction alert bulletin) more rapidly.
  • An Arizona ID card can help protect your child against identity theft.
  • Having an Arizona ID card can make it easier for your child to travel and enroll in school or activities.

  A new photo will be needed as your child grows and changes.
• Written and/or Road Testing
  EZ Title & Registration offers all Driver License and Instruction Permit testing at our Tempe and Scottsdale Locations Whether you are applying for the first time, renewing your license or permit, removing a restriction from your license, EZ Title & Registration can take care of it for it, with no appointment required! For written and road tests, we ask that you arrive at least 1 hour before closing to give you time to complete the application and the required testing. (5:00 pm on weekdays, 2:00 pm on Saturday) Applicants must complete a Driver License / Identification Card Application. The form is also available in our office.

  Written Testing is required for first time Driver License or Instruction permit applicants and includes a 30 question, multiple choice answer test. The test is not timed.

  -If you have already had an Arizona instruction permit in the past, the written test is waived -You must be 15 1/2 to apply for an instruction permit and take the written test Please see below links to study for the test.   Road Testing is also required for first time applicants getting their license in Arizona.

  -EZ Title & Registration requires a parallel parking test before the road test is completed -You must be 16 or older to apply for a driver license (must hold permit for 6 months if under 18) -You will need to provide proof of registration and insurance before the test can be conducted

  No Car, No Problem! We offer a car for rent to use on the road test, if needed!

• Driver License Reinstatement
  

  Suspension

  Suspension is the temporary removal of your privilege to drive. It is an action taken after a review of your driving record. After your suspension period has ended, your driving privilege will remain suspended until your application for reinstatement is approved.

  Suspended for Failure to Pay a Ticket or Appear in Court

  To reinstate your license

  • Contact the court listed on the suspension notice and pay all court penalties due.
  • Obtain a court clearance receipt (with a final disposition code and date, violation code and date, and complaint number) or a Court Abstract form.
  • Bring the receipt or Abstract to any MVD driver license office and pay your reinstatement fees.

  Revocation

  Revocation is the termination of your privilege to drive. It is required by law upon conviction of certain driving offenses. After your revocation period has ended, your driving privilege will remain revoked until an investigation of your driving record is completed, if applicable, and a new license is issued.

  Reinstate Your License

  Complete an investigation packet(link is external) once you are eligible to reapply. Your packet will be reviewed and upon determining eligibility to reinstate, a Permission to Reapply Notice will be mailed to you . Follow the instructions on how to proceed. For alcohol- and drug-related revocations, you will be required to obtain proof of Future Financial Responsibility, known as an SR-22. This proof is either a Certificate of Insurance (known as an SR-22) from any insurance company licensed to conduct business in Arizona, or a certificate from the Arizona Office of Treasurer showing deposit in cash or certificates of deposit of $40,000. For the revocations and suspensions, you are required to maintain proof for three years from the date you become eligible for reinstatement. If you fail to maintain proof, your license and the registration will be suspended until proof is re-established and provided. Bring the proof and your notice to our office, fill out an application, pay your reinstatement fees. If you are required to have an ignition interlock device, contact us before installation to determine if there are any actions on your record that would prohibit your operating a motor vehicle. Proof of installation of a functioning interlock device must be provided prior to reinstatement.

  Insurance Violations

  You may apply for a restricted permit at our office when you are eligible. At the time of application, you will be required to file proof of future financial responsibility (SR-22) These restricted permits are issued for travel to and from work, on the job, and to and from school, and may be good for the entire suspension period.

  DUI Violations

  If you are eligible, a restricted permit will automatically be mailed to your address of record, 22-30 days after the suspension period begins (if you did not request a hearing with MVD). However, a minimum of 30 days of the suspension period must be served before the restricted driving privilege begins. This restricted permit is issued for travel to and from work, on the job, to and from school, and to and from a treatment center. If you requested a hearing with MVD and the suspension was upheld, you may obtain a restricted permit at our office after 30 days of your suspension have been served (if eligible).

  Special Restricted License

  In cases involving driver license suspension/revocation resulting from a DUI-related violation date on or after Feb. 1, 2006, you may be eligible for a special restricted driver license if you meet the following requirements:

  • Complete at least 90 days of the mandated suspension period.
  • Contact us to verify eligibility.
  • No other outstanding withdrawal actions are pending on your driving record.
  • Install an ignition interlock on your vehicle and provide us proof with a Verification of Installation form.
  • Comply with mandatory alcohol treatment programs (if required) and submit proof of completion to us.
  • Submit proof of future financial responsibility to us (e.g., certificate of automobile liability insurance known as an SR22).
  • Pay all applicable fees.

  News: Legislation passed in the 2021 legislative session reinstated the driving privileges of Arizona drivers whose licenses had been suspended or restricted exclusively for failure to pay civil traffic violations. Reinstatement of driver licenses occurred on Sept. 29, 2021, which was the effective date of this law. Reinstatement happened automatically and required no action on the part of the customer. Customers can check their driver license status by visiting one of our offices. For questions related to paying civil traffic violations, use the contact information provided on the citation/ticket/fine received and contact the court, municipality, law enforcement agency or other entity that issued the violation.
• Driver License Renewal
  Your Driver License usually expires on your 65th birthday, after 8 years (for Travel DL) or when your foreign documents expire. EZ Title & Registration can renew your license and get you back on your way! -A new photo will be required, and a vision test may be needed as well. -Applicants must complete a Driver License / Identification Card Application. The form is also available in our office.

  Travel ID Option

  You can also use this renewal as an opportunity to apply for the Travel ID, which will be accepted at TSA airport security checkpoints for domestic travel and at restricted federal facilities. For the Travel ID, you will need to visit our office to get a photo taken and present your identification documents
